Sustainability
For Duluth
Sustainability
Is:
the ability to provide resources
for current and future generations while maintaining or restoring reservoirs
of social, economic and environmental capital.
SUSTAINABILITY is STRONG
when it promotes natural resources and ecological conservation.
Man-made commodities cannot
substitute for depleted natural resources.
Human need is at the center of
concern for economic growth.
Everyone in the community should
be able to participate in planning and decision making process.
Special care should be taken to
include all groups of people: minority, youth, seniors, etc.
Sustainable development meets
the needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their own needs.
Community sustainability is
achieved when informed groups of people
pursue environmental stewardship, civic democracy, economic security, and
social justice.
